Cleaning Up Temporary Files In Your PC

Temporary files are something nobody wants to have in their system. But unfortunately when you use most software applications like Microsoft Word, you will see a large number of temporary files being created. The concept of temporary files is that they will be automatically deleted from your system once you close the main program that caused its development. But most of the time, this deletion does not occur.

So you might be forced to depend on some sort of Microsoft support services to do the same. However, most of you are unaware that you can easily get rid of such temporary files manually. We list before you some simple steps to follow to get rid of temporary files.

Instructions to follow

First restart your system as this would probably be the best solution to the problem. Most problems would be solved in an instant when you restart your PC and the problem of temporary files will also be solved in this way. However, cases do occur when such solutions prove inefficient.

If the problem persists, then you can manually open the folder where you save the documents that you create using Word. In the folder, you should enable the view option for ‘hidden files’ as well. You will see a number of files with “.tmp” extension as well as “.doc” extension but in a way that shows they are temporary files. You can manually delete them from your computer.

Next option that you can use is to search for the temporary files from your search navigation bar. Just search for “.tmp” and you will see a long list of temporary files in your system. You can select all the files and then delete them manually in one go. Make sure you check out advanced search options to look in hidden folders as well as in non-indexed locations on your hard drive.

Ensure that you delete files pertaining to only Microsoft Word as temporary files may be created by other programs as well. Even though there is no significant harm in deleting them, it is safe to not delete files, which you have no idea as to what it actually is.

As evident from this post, you can always do a lot of things yourself to solve any issues with your PC without having to rely on Microsoft support services for the same.

Techniques For Upgrading Memory On The Sony Vaio

For a computer system there exist different forms of storages. RAM (Random access memory) is a form of computer storage; with RAM, data can be accessed quickly. Sony VAIO laptops also use different forms of RAM memory, such as SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM and DDR3 SDRAM .Among these, DDR3 SDRAM is used in newer models of VIAO, but most of the legacy models use SDRAM. Compared to SDRAM, DDR SDRAM has twice the throughput i.e. at each level of increase RAM performance goes up to twice as much.
RAM is packaged inside the memory modules in the form of small chips. Sony VAIO uses a technique for packaging the memory chips called SODIMMs (Small Outline Duel In-line Memory Modules).SODIMMs comes in different pin configurations such as 72-pins, 100-pin, 144-pin and 200-pin configurations. As the pin number increases, memory capacity may also increases. For different models of laptops, different pin configurations have to be used, according to specifications. By using the upgraded versions of SODIMM, memory modules recommended by Sony laptop support, you can improve the performance of your Sony VAIO.
Memory Upgrading Technique

ReadyBoost

It is a disk cache component of Microsoft Windows. First introduced with Windows Vista, this technique converts the flash and SD card memory to cache memory, which increases the performance of the system. Compared to Windows Vista, Windows 7 can utilize multiple flash memories as cache memory, while the former utilizes only one flash memory. In order to configure Ready Boost, insert the SD card or Flash drive into the proper slot on your computer, and then choose Speed up my system from AutoPlay, and change the settings.

Compatibility Check

Most of the desktop and notebook computers maintain a general database of information. As you enter the product information, you can see the memory specifications of your Sony VAIO. With this information you can select the appropriate size and type of computer memory. Manufactures may specify the list of memory modules compatible with your Sony VIAO; you can use this information to purchase memory.

Upgrading Tips

1. Before you upgrade the memory, make sure that you turn of the computer and unplug it from the power supply.
2. Use an antistatic wrist strap to prevent damage of your computer’s memory due to static electricity.
Make use of the above instructions to upgrade the memory of your Sony VAIO. Contact Sony laptop support for further assistance regarding memory upgradation.
