How To Upgrade From Windows 7 To 8

Windows 7 has been one of the great OS platforms introduced by Microsoft Corporation and they provide many features like in the prior versions of Windows. After introducing a platform, Microsoft would be keen to introduce many new features and applications for the new OS platform. You might have heard about the release of the new Windows 8 upgrade last year. This new upgrade was entirely different from its predecessors and it had many new features that made the operating system unique. One of them is the tiled UI in Windows 8 that made it special. The users could access the different apps on their start screen and this would reduce the time they had to spend for navigation.

If you have Windows 7 installed on your computer, you need to follow some steps to get your operating system updated using the Windows 8 OS upgrade. There is the Clean install, In place upgrade and Migration.

If you were looking for a clean install, you would have to start the installation of Windows right from the start.  In in-place upgrade, you would have an older version installed, but installing Windows 8 OS will not affect your applications or its settings. It will not even affect the files and documents on your computer and all of them will be retained. In Migration, your settings get backed up initially and then the installation of Windows operating system starts. After installing the same, the settings will be reapplied and data will be added to Windows 8 upgrade.

The choices available vary according to different Windows operating systems used. If you are upgrading from an old version like  Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, the options will vary. You will find the choices right before you when you accept the End User License Agreement. If you have Windows 7 on your computer, you will find different choices and they would include options for retaining Windows settings, personal files and applications’ and for one for retaining the Personal files only.

In the first folders and files that are present in the Users folder along with all the compatible applications will be transferred to the new Windows 8 OS. In the Personal Files only option, you will be able to transfer all your files and folders in Users folders and this can be treated as partial migration because the settings will not be migrated.

Voice Chat Quality Of Xbox One

Xbox One is the gaming console developed by Microsoft. All thanks to the Xbox developers, as they have improved the voice chat features of the Xbox One greatly so that the system now offers high quality audio chats. The predecessor of the Xbox One, Xbox 360 too provided voice chat features although the chat was sluggish and often the connection got lost. According to the latest reports from Microsoft chat, Xbox One offers the best in class chat features available for gaming consoles now available in the market.

Microsoft’s Xbox range gaming consoles allow users to chat with other users; no matter what game they are playing or even if they are doing any other job. However, by the acquiring of Skype messenger, Microsoft benefitted a lot, as it is the code of Skype that makes the audio quality of these consoles exceptionally good. The audio codec of Skype has dedicated multi user audio processing for voice chat and for Skype conversions on Xbox One. One of the major factors driving to the high quality audio input and output from the Xbox console is the presence of the new and advanced headset that provides HD quality audio effects.

According to the details in the Microsoft chat site, the headset captures speech at 24 KHz PCM, which is fifty percentage higher than the headsets found in the Xbox 360’s headset. For knowing the difference between the two new systems, Microsoft posted a video, in which one played back audio at the quality of Xbox 360 and then in the quality of the Xbox One gaming console. You can easily understand the difference in the voice chat quality and this is definitely going to increase the voice chat experience of gamers who are using Xbox One rather than the old Xbox 360.

However, Xbox 360 users will not be able to know about this difference or get a chance to experience the new improved audio quality, as users of Xbox One will not be able to chat with those using its predecessor. Even though Microsoft planned to release the headset as a separate accessory initially with a price of $24.99, it was later revoked by following many complaints and posts in the Microsoft site against it. So now every Xbox One console is shipped with an inbox headset.

If you would like to know more about the Xbox One and its features, visit the Xbox support site.

New Xbox 360 Gaming Console Released In The Market

With the increase in demand for gaming consoles and the high competition from Sony PlayStation devices, Microsoft decided to release an advanced and trim model of their popular gaming console Xbox 360. The announcement of the new console came along with the announcement of the Kinect controllers, which allows users to play motion sensing video games. If you are wondering what Kinect is, it is the name of a new technology developed by Microsoft that recognizes motion from the user and allows him to play motion sensing games effectively. According to Microsoft help line, Kinect was first code named as Project Natal by Microsoft technicians.

This new technology allows the users to play games with natural body movements rather than having to use handheld controller devices. The device uses 3D camera and gesture recognition software for enabling people to play games using natural movements. The new Xbox is also slimmer than its predecessor and hosts a 250GB hard drive and is available at the same price of its predecessor. The new console also has built in high-speed wireless connectivity technology.

The software company also displayed a variety of new games that can be played with the Kinect system at the Electronic Entertainment Expo held in Los Angeles. According to our sources in the Microsoft help line, about fifteen titles will be available for playing with the Kinect system in the market after the add-on for earlier Xbox consoles are released. According to the Kinect creative director Kudo Tsunado, “You interact with things the same way you would in the real world, with your moves and your voice, so anyone can jump in and play.”

Microsoft has developed many games for playing with the Kinect console, the main among these are discussed here. Kinectimals is a game that allows users to train and play with wild animals. There are also sports games developed by Microsoft like sprinting and javelin throw that allow users to play using body movements only. Another part of Kinect games is a game by the name Joy Ride, which allows the user to race a car and perform stunts with the car. Microsoft has also included adventurous games like virtual rafting in which one uses his whole body to control the raft.

In short, we can say that with the advent of the Kinect consoles, Microsoft may be able to lead the gaming console market very soon.

  • Upgrade your RAM. Installing a high capacity RAM in your computer is the best way to speed up your computer. It is easy for the computer to access the RAM memory than hard disk memory.
  • You may replace the current hard disk drive installed in your computer with another one with more spindle speed. The spindle speed is measured in RPM and higher speed means the HDD is faster.
  • Tune up your computer using the Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup Tool. These programs come along with the Windows operating system and can be accessed from the System Tools of the Accessories folder. Running these utilities will surely help you to speed up your computer. If you are a Mac OS user, you need not worry as the disk cleaning utility automatically runs with OS X operating system.
  • You are likely to get affected by viruses when browsing the Internet. Install appropriate antivirus programs in your computer and use it to clean up your computer from adware, viruses and spywares, which will decrease the speed of your computer. Also, set the antivirus program to run a full system scan frequently.
  • You may also try to replace the central processing unit (CPU) of your computer with a faster model. This will surely help you to make your computer perform much better. CPUs are rated in MHz for their speed. Higher MHz rating of the CPU means that the processor is faster. You may consider the cost of a new CPU and buying a new computer. New CPUs can be expensive. If you are happy with the gains you made with the other steps, you may ignore the CPU.
These are the steps to make your computer fast. If you still feel that you have the computer slow issue, you may seek assistance from a technician to find out the exact cause of the issue and fix it.

Missing Email In Outlook Express

An important email missing from inbox might annoy you too much. It could be personal, confidential or even an e-bill sent to you. Here are few reasons for email disappearing from your Outlook account.

Deleted email in Outlook

You might accidently delete an email or few of them. It is possible that an email that is missing in the inbox list could have been deleted unintentionally. To view such emails, just click on the Deleted items option located on the left side of the Microsoft Outlook window. Hopefully, you will find the important missing email in here.

Is it an incorrect selection made?

If you can’t find an email, you might have selected an inappropriate or incorrect folder. It is probable that the email you are trying to find is placed in a sub-folder other than the one opened. Check, if Inbox located on the left hand side of Outlook window is selected and is highlighted in gray color.
View settings option
At the top of the Microsoft Outlook screen, View button would be available. Click this and select Current view option. You need to make sure the option Show all messages is clicked and selected. The emails wouldn’t appear in Outlook Express if any other option is selected.

Outlook Express errors due to Antivirus

If you have updated or recently installed malware software, ensure that the settings of the scanning program cover email as well. An older version or incompatible email scanning program would cause a missing email from your Outlook inbox. The antivirus program might have categorized the particular email message as a spam or a virus and it tries to prevent it from harming you.

Outlook account settings

You need to check and verify your Microsoft Outlook email account settings with the help of the email service provider. If any of this setting is incorrect, you would receive some kind of error message. It is also probable that you wouldn’t receive email due to such incorrect settings.

Corruption causing Outlook Express errors

Microsoft Outlook Express files stored in your computer might be corrupted due to changes in default settings. An error message could pop up due to such a corruption in any of the important Outlook Express files. Thankfully, in most of the cases the corrupted files could be replaced easily. Otherwise, you would have to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Outlook Express.

Guidelines To Inform The Hacking Of An Email Account

The internet is one of the most advanced platforms ever created. There are millions of possibilities that users can make use of when it comes to the internet. In fact, this is what drives the modern day human, and this applies to almost every individual. However, consider yourselves warned; there are various threats on the Internet that pose danger to your data and information. For instance, hackers are a major threat to the online community, and internet crimes are multiplying at a very fast rate.
Email hacking is, by far, one of the crimes most perpetrated on the Internet. Sending and receiving emails opens up a portal for the hackers to attack. The targets here are not restricted to private individuals, but corporate ones as well. Unfortunately, this has become an everyday scenario. As a result, Internet service providers and email providers have initiated a set of procedures to deal with such emergencies. For instance, Google has released a set of procedures to deal with Gmail account hacked issues. Essentially, you can report the hacked issues to the service provider, and avail of the support they provide. Let us see the basic steps involved.
Reporting hacked email account
• If you find that your account has been hacked into, you need to contact your email service provider immediately.
• If your account is Gmail, you need to contact the Google tech support and help experts. If the account is Hotmail, you need to contact the MSN support experts.
• If the Internet service provider is Rogers, you need to contact them to let them know about the incident.
• You need to attach all the relevant information along with an explanatory mail and send it to them. The time of discovery is an important aspect and should not be missed.
• You also need to include the time of the last login along with the mail. Try to include the emails that surfaced as a result of hacking. You can also include other suspicious emails that came days before the hacking incident.
• You need to locate the agency that has complete jurisdiction over the hacking issues. This will help you find the registered address of the suspect. For Gmail account hacked issues, you can visit the official page of Google.
Hacking an email account is not a punishable offence in many countries. This loophole makes it easy for the criminals to escape. This only means that you should be double careful while handling your mail.

Cleaning Up Temporary Files In Your PC

Temporary files are something nobody wants to have in their system. But unfortunately when you use most software applications like Microsoft Word, you will see a large number of temporary files being created. The concept of temporary files is that they will be automatically deleted from your system once you close the main program that caused its development. But most of the time, this deletion does not occur.

So you might be forced to depend on some sort of Microsoft support services to do the same. However, most of you are unaware that you can easily get rid of such temporary files manually. We list before you some simple steps to follow to get rid of temporary files.

Instructions to follow

First restart your system as this would probably be the best solution to the problem. Most problems would be solved in an instant when you restart your PC and the problem of temporary files will also be solved in this way. However, cases do occur when such solutions prove inefficient.

If the problem persists, then you can manually open the folder where you save the documents that you create using Word. In the folder, you should enable the view option for ‘hidden files’ as well. You will see a number of files with “.tmp” extension as well as “.doc” extension but in a way that shows they are temporary files. You can manually delete them from your computer.

Next option that you can use is to search for the temporary files from your search navigation bar. Just search for “.tmp” and you will see a long list of temporary files in your system. You can select all the files and then delete them manually in one go. Make sure you check out advanced search options to look in hidden folders as well as in non-indexed locations on your hard drive.

Ensure that you delete files pertaining to only Microsoft Word as temporary files may be created by other programs as well. Even though there is no significant harm in deleting them, it is safe to not delete files, which you have no idea as to what it actually is.

As evident from this post, you can always do a lot of things yourself to solve any issues with your PC without having to rely on Microsoft support services for the same.

Techniques For Upgrading Memory On The Sony Vaio

For a computer system there exist different forms of storages. RAM (Random access memory) is a form of computer storage; with RAM, data can be accessed quickly. Sony VAIO laptops also use different forms of RAM memory, such as SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM and DDR3 SDRAM .Among these, DDR3 SDRAM is used in newer models of VIAO, but most of the legacy models use SDRAM. Compared to SDRAM, DDR SDRAM has twice the throughput i.e. at each level of increase RAM performance goes up to twice as much.
RAM is packaged inside the memory modules in the form of small chips. Sony VAIO uses a technique for packaging the memory chips called SODIMMs (Small Outline Duel In-line Memory Modules).SODIMMs comes in different pin configurations such as 72-pins, 100-pin, 144-pin and 200-pin configurations. As the pin number increases, memory capacity may also increases. For different models of laptops, different pin configurations have to be used, according to specifications. By using the upgraded versions of SODIMM, memory modules recommended by Sony laptop support, you can improve the performance of your Sony VAIO.
Memory Upgrading Technique

It is a disk cache component of Microsoft Windows. First introduced with Windows Vista, this technique converts the flash and SD card memory to cache memory, which increases the performance of the system. Compared to Windows Vista, Windows 7 can utilize multiple flash memories as cache memory, while the former utilizes only one flash memory. In order to configure Ready Boost, insert the SD card or Flash drive into the proper slot on your computer, and then choose Speed up my system from AutoPlay, and change the settings.

Compatibility Check

Most of the desktop and notebook computers maintain a general database of information. As you enter the product information, you can see the memory specifications of your Sony VAIO. With this information you can select the appropriate size and type of computer memory. Manufactures may specify the list of memory modules compatible with your Sony VIAO; you can use this information to purchase memory.

Upgrading Tips

1. Before you upgrade the memory, make sure that you turn of the computer and unplug it from the power supply.
2. Use an antistatic wrist strap to prevent damage of your computer’s memory due to static electricity.
Make use of the above instructions to upgrade the memory of your Sony VAIO. Contact Sony laptop support for further assistance regarding memory upgradation.

Tutorial To Repair The Outlook Express Program

There are many email management software out there, but almost none of them would even come close to the Outlook Express program when it comes to the sheer number of features offered. It is no wonder that the program developed by Microsoft has gone on to become one of the most popular email management programs in the world.
As in the case of any other software, Outlook Express is also prone to the occasional hiccups and errors. But almost every Outlook Express error encountered by the user can be resolved using some simple troubleshooting methods.
A common problem associated with the Outlook Express program is the corruption of the DBX files. The Outlook Express software stores the data in the Inbox and Sent Items folders, as DBX files. Each of these folders will have individual DBX files stored in them. These files have a default size limit of 2 GB, and if the size of the files were to go over this limit, then there is the chance of the files getting corrupted. Once they are corrupted, you might need to take the help of third party repair tools to get rid of the corruption.
Troubleshooting method
There are no tools included with the Outlook Express software that can be used for repairing the *.dbx files when they get corrupted. Most of the problems associated with the Outlook Express program can be resolved simply by either renaming or deleting the damaged folder. You are required to configure the settings, so that you are able to view the hidden files and folders on your computer. After enabling the view, you will then have to locate the inbox.dbx, or the Sent Items.dbx files.
Third party programs are required for repairing a DBX file, as they make use of scanning algorithms in order to repair the damaged Outlook Express files. There are several DBX repair tools that you can make use of, and all of them are very easy to install and use. The installation procedure for such repair tools is fairly simple, and you will only be required to follow the on-screen instructions. These DBX file repair tools conduct only read-only scanning, and as such, they are safe to use.
If you extensively use the Outlook Express program for long periods of time, it is likely that you will encounter such an Outlook Express error in the computer. In such situations, you can make use of the tips given here in order to resolve the problems.
